Marco Iannaccone / Scarlet Lovejoy

Love is not a crime

Homosexuality is seen, even today in 2018, as a taboo subject to fight against or repress, or in the best of cases, to tolerate, a extremely offensive word in my opinion; practically I know you exist, I do not like you … I will tolerate you. Even today in many states on earth it is considered a crime punishable by arrest if not with the death penalty. But even here in Italy, in a “so-called” civil country, things are not all that much better: aggressions, beatings, reprisals, bullying episodes against gays are a commonplace, encouraged and not punished, among other things, by a government that fosters racist and homophobic hate and intolerance. The performance with an accompanying exhibition by Scarlet Lovejoy points the finger at this Re-Discover in the sense that each of us must have the awareness of himself, of his body, of his soul and sensibility and gradually undress of all the frills environmental and personal, therefore acceptance of oneself and desire to be able to freely express one’s own being. Indeed love has no boundaries and is not a crime.
